Steeped in Bluegrass, Blues and American Roots Music, The Desperate Bastards bring an energy and love for improvisation and tradition bound with modern edges. Their bag is deep, drawing from old standards, classic rock tunes, swampy blues, traditional fiddle tunes as well as original compositions.
The band is based in Chicago and draws its inspiration from musical pioneers ranging from Bill Monroe to Robert Johnson, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Ry Cooder, Lyle Lovett, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan and Warren Zevon.
Violinist extraordinaire Phil Roach will be joining the DB’s for this show. Phil is one of the finest musicians in Chicago and an alumni of the band Cornmeal, along with DBs members Wavy Dave Burlingame and Drew Littell. Phil has performed internationally and is fluent in multiple musical genres, including classical, bluegrass and rock. He currently plays with the Trippin’ Billies, a Dave Matthew’s tribute band.
