Push Puppets is an indie pop / rock ensemble from the Chicago area that creates songs with earworm melodies and shiny production that belie the often bittersweet sentiments in the songwriting of singer/songwriter/guitarist Erich Specht.
Specht shares guitar and vocal duties with mainstay of the Chicago music scene Tommi Zender. With a ridiculously solid rhythm section consisting of drummer Greg Essig, bassist John William Lauler and keyboardist Kyle Magnusson, Push Puppets creates inventive pop/rock that takes the listener to unexpected places.
Their third album “Allegory Grey” was released late in 2022 and was met with critical acclaim. Push Puppets are currently recording the follow-up album, which is their most ambitious effort yet.
Here’s what critics are saying about the band:
“These guys really deliver the goods. The songs are strong and the performances even stronger, it that’s possible.” – Richard Rossi, Power Pop News
“Altogether, a very fine, and highly individual, indie-pop outing.” – Robert Rodi , New City
“With a band this good, it’s no wonder that they’re getting a wide audience for their music. It’s very catchy, kinetic, and has an uncommonly good flow.” – Andrea Weiss, All Around Records
“There’s No One Else Like Lynette is an absolute earworm and Sometimes The Buds Never Flower may be the best Pop Rock song that I’ve heard all year … Highly Recommended!” – Don Valentine, I Don’t Hear A Single
