CURRENT DAY is the follow-up release to Martin Van Ruin’s critically-acclaimed debut, Every Man a King. The 8-song offering sees the seven-piece collective made up of familiar Chicago faces (members of Derek Nelson & The Musicians, Jenny Dragon, Planetsexploder) exploring increasingly modern sounds while building upon the ideas established in their debut. CURRENT DAY was recorded over a series of sessions in 2017 at the Music Garage, and was recorded and engineered by Mike Lust (Tight Phantomz).
“Fans looking for Chicago’s next Wilco may want to check out Martin Van Ruin.” — AMERICAN SONGWRITER MAGAZINE
“[T]he Bob Dylan and Neil Young comparisons are inescapable for this new folk rock supergroup.” — CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
Minor Moon
Dread-laced and hopeful, meticulous and ecstatic – the music of Chicago based Minor Moon dances with contradictions. Using a palette that leans heavily on folk rock and alt-country styles and instrumentation, bandleader and songwriter Sam Cantor wrestles together something altogether different, with songs and sounds that are elusive, dynamic and spacious. In addition to Cantor, the band includes Colin Drozdoff on keyboards, Michael Downing on bass and Nathan Bojko on drums. Minor Moon will be releasing their second full length album in early 2019.
