About the Artist

The Booty Movement Coalition is the long-running brainchild of renowned Chicago-based jazz and funk siren Typhanie Monique. The BMC brings together some of Chicago’s most diverse musical talent to give groove lovers, dance fans and die-hard improv lovers a unique, never-to-be-repeated experience in Chicago’s live music scene. The BMC first launched at the acclaimed Martyr’s club in Chicago, but is now ready to Booty-ize the northwest suburbs at Hey Nonny. The amazing Ms. Monique will be joined by Chicago’s most creative rhythm aces, including JQ, well recovered from his annual mega-hit run in Q Brothers’ Christmas Carol at Chicago Shakespeare, and ace producer Rick Gehrenbeck.

The group improvises every song. Yes, you read right. Every song is improvised. Every performer is a virtuoso, but what happens when you turn virtuosos loose together to create tunes, rhythms and lyrics on the spot? Magic! You will witness the creative process at the inception. Moment to moment, measure to measure, the group instinctively communicates to bring musical gems to the table. High energy horn-hitting HOUSE tunes, Hip-Hop bouncing rhymes and grooves, LATIN-based danceable ditties, WORLD-oriented off meter solo-spinning jams and SOULful lyrical content that absorbs the audience with each song taking them on a musical journey.
