After a fantastic sold-out Holiday run, Chicago’s Soul Spectacular is headed back to Hey Nonny. This time with a brand new set of Soul classics including hits from Motown, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Donny Hathaway, and many other classics of the Sixties and Seventies. Perfect for date night or a full family outing, this is a show really designed to help you shake the winter blues and reawaken your SOUL. This is is no dashed off tribute, but rather an event that includes costumes of the era, arrangements of the era, and the showmanship – insuring that you’re seeing a SHOW – rather than just a concert.
After years of putting on events with The Second City, The Kennedy Center, as well as the band he founded JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, guitarist/director Billy Bungeroth and master musical director, improviser, and Second City alum Julie Nichols started to explore the idea of resurrecting the art of the Revue: concerts that have the thought and direction of a theatrical experience. The result is an homage, a celebration, a cathartic night of music and dancing as this group bands together to send off one of the greatest Soul singers to ever walk the Earth (Featuring Elisa Latrice, MC Greenweedz, and Chris Neal).
